New Orleans In August Part 2

I am back with Part 2 of my New Orleans trip. Be sure to click here to check out Part 1 if you haven't already. Part 2 is all about the food or I should say the food I actually managed to get a photo of. 😄 Louisiana has some of the best food in the country! I did try out some new places, but I also visited some of my favorites too.

New Orleans has some of the best food I have ever eaten. The main reason I like going to New Orleans is to eat. There are just so many different cultures and variety of foods to choose from. You can also find a nice assortment of drinks there as well. Below I share a few restaurants you should check out while you're visiting New Orleans.
I stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton New Orleans Convention Center during this visit. This hotel offers a complimentary breakfast. There is also a complimentary happy hour with beverages and snacks. Embassy Suites had one of the best free breakfasts I've ever had at a hotel. I really enjoyed their made-to-order omelette station there.

I was hungry the night I made it in and almost everything was closed. I walked right across the street to World of Beer since they were opened later in the night. I got the Beer-Battered Shrimp Street Tacos that feature a Sriracha Lime Aioli. The tacos are topped with freshly-made roasted tomato & corn salsa, shredded lettuce, avocado, fresh cilantro & queso fresco, served in lightly grilled tortillas.
Price: $7.50 for an order of 2 or $11.00 for an order of 3

I first tried Drago's when I was in New Orleans last year for the Jay-Z concert. I've been thinking about this pasta ever since then. This was another late eat that I picked up right before they closed. The Seafood Pasta features shrimp and crab meat cooked in a delicate cream sauce with angel hair pasta and sprinkled with fresh Parmesan and Romano cheeses.
Price: $21.50

My last day there we went to Willie's Chicken Shack for lunch. This was my first time trying this restaurant out. I picked out the Shrimp Basket. That comes with 6 piece fried shrimp combo, one side, and honey glazed biscuit. For my side I picked out red beans and rice. The waiter brought out the wrong order and I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the correct order to arrive. The food was good, but for the price of the shrimp basket I expected the shrimp to be bigger in size.
Price: $11.99

We also got an order of Cajun Fries from Willie's Chicken Shack. I really loved these, plus it gave me something to snack on while I waited for my correct food order to come out.
Price: $4.99

Willie's Chicken Shack has a variety of daiquiri flavors available. I picked out a regular-sized mango daiquiri. Super yummy!
Price: $8.00

We went to the Harrah's New Orleans Casino for a few hours. One thing I love about that casino is that you have the option of ordering complimentary drinks at the machine. We don't have that option at the casino here. I ordered a Strawberry Margarita and it was one of the best margaritas I've ever had.

I purchased a couple of pralines at The Fudgery. The price of these will vary depending on the amount and weight of the item(s). I paid less than $6.00 for two.

Kilwins is a sweet-toothed dream store! They have a huge assortment of sweets and desserts. There are chocolates, fudge, ice cream, and so much more. I actually picked out some fudge during this visit. It was very helpful that they let you sample the fudge and ice cream. The first fudge I purchased was the Cookies and Cream Fudge. I will definitely purchase this again.

The second piece of fudge I purchased was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge. Chocolate and peanut butter is one of my favorite combinations. The fudge at Kilwins is super creamy and to my surprise it did not melt in the humidity. The prices of the fudge will vary depending on the amount you purchase. I paid less than $6.00 each for half a slice of fudge.

I can not visit New Orleans without getting some beignets. The beignets I have available here do not compare to the ones I get in New Orleans. There are several locations you can get beignets, but I have only personally gone to Café Du Monde. It can be quite messy to eat these, so I suggest you don't wear black or navy clothing.
Price: $2.73 for an order of 3
