Review: PMD Personal Microderm System.

I recently received the PMD Personal Microderm System, which is a home microdermabrasion. I don't have too many skin concerns. My main concern is that sometimes when I get a pimple it leaves a scar. I hate scars on my face, so I was excited that I got a chance to try out this product!

Description: Achieve amazing anti-aging results at home with Personal Microderm System. It works just like a professional microdermabrasion treatment without the hassle or cost. The hand-held device uses the same aluminum oxide crystals as the ten thousand dollar machines found at your doctor's office. It smooths away dead skin cells, diminishing age spots and other signs of aging.

What does it include? 1 personal microderm, 5 exfoliating discs (2 green and 3 blue), 1 electric cord (Standard U.S. Outlet), 1 facial cap, 1 body cap, 1 reusable filter, Instructional CD and Pamphlet. For best results when using the Personal Microderm, use a cell renewal or gentle skin resurfacing cream in conjunction with the microdermabrasion tool, such as Boske Molecular Repair or M2 Skin Refinish. This powerful system for skin treatment combines some of the finest serums and creams for cell renewal and skin resurfacing on the market with the enhanced results achieved through microdermal exfoliation. One without the other will not give you the significant results that both combined do. Use either the M2 or the Boske products with this tool and see for yourself how powerful this combination is.

Who is it for? Ideal for those with age spots, skin discolorations, and other imperfections who want smooth, even-toned skin.

Retail Price: $179.00

My Thoughts: I'm going to be completely honest and admit I was scared to use this. I think mostly due to the fact that I didn't know what to expect. I watched both the video displayed on the website and I watched the video that was on the DVD to make sure I used the tool correctly. My skin type is Normal/Combination so I decided to use the blue disc. The blue disc is great for those with sensitive skin or perfect if it's your first time using the Personal Microderm System.

On the video this tool seemed completely easy to use, but I didn't find it that easy. I started gliding it on my face just like I had seen on the video and I jumped at what I felt. I expected the discs to spin, but instead it was a suction to my face. Yes, a suction similar to as if you were putting a vacuum on your skin. It wasn't painful but it was definitely unexpected. I felt as though I was unable to glide it on my face with ease like what appeared in the video. One thing I was concerned with is that I already knew if it was left in one place too long it could leave a scar. I made sure not to do this, but the suction also made it difficult to not do it.

After I was completely done using the tool I noticed a small ring on my left cheek. I went and applied the Boske Molecular Repair and M2 Skin Refinish to my face and it stung a bit. But this was correctly my error as you shouldn't apply it directly after using the system. I woke up the next morning to several small rings on the lower part of my face. I was not pleased at all. I watched the videos multiple times to insure that I was using the tool properly, but I still ended up with scars on my face.

The scars did disappear within a few days though. They appeared to look like dry skin, rather than an actual scar or burn. Even though I was extremely unhappy with the marks that were left on my face I did notice that my skin looked and felt a lot smoother than before. I think I need to get use to using the PMD Personal Microderm System and become more comfortable with it. But because I only received the sample sizes of the Boske Molecular Repair and M2 Skin Refinish I probably won't be able to use this much unless I go buy the full sized products on my own.

The plus side to purchasing this tool is that it's a lot cheaper than getting an actual microdermabrasion. So if you do have skin concerns like dryness, wrinkles, age spots, scarring then I would check it out.

Have you tried a Personal Microderm System before? Would you?

  1. Gah! Sounds scaryyyyy.. O.o

I don't have many skin issues either and am usually terrified of anything with the word "abrasion" in it lol. But when I recently saw (another fairly honest Youtuber) review another micro dermabrasion thingamajig,,, I got intrigued.
